Algeria is in constant contact with countries, Arab or others, which are contributing to the fight against terrorism in order to counter this widely spread scourge with major risks," said Monday in Algiers Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra.
"We are in constant contact with several influent countries, Arab or others, regarding this scourge," said Lamamra in reply to a question on the coordination of Algeria with other countries in the fight against terrorism during a press conference held jointly with Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Rui Chancerelle de Machete.
"Algeria is coordinating, at bilateral level, with most of its partners, which are contributing to the fight against terrorism with the respect for the principles of the United Nations Global Counterterrorism Strategy and in line with Algeria's unchanged position, which requires joint efforts, respect for national sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries," he added.
"Today Algeria is addressing the situations more equanimity and considers that complex questions require measures that are not limited to military-security solutions," he said, adding that "complex issues require multidimensional solutions."
"Algeria is a major partner in the international counterterrorism cooperation and it is in the vanguard of the fight against terrorism," said Lamamra, adding that "the sacrifices made by Algeria and the experience acquired during the ordeal that hit its people are known by all."
The Foreign minister said that Algeria's participation in the forthcoming UN General Assembly "will be an opportunity to discuss at the bilateral level and at the UN General Assembly a number of sensitive issues relating to international peace and security."
Algeria will also discuss, at the UN General Assembly and the different meetings scheduled on the sidelines with senior officials, the required international contribution for the resolution of conflicts and crises through peaceful means, he said.
On this occasion, Lamamra condemned "the despicable terrorist acts" perpetrated by the terrorist group, so-called the organization of the Islamic State "Daesh."
"This organization claims a name that it is far from deserving it because Islam is innocent from the vile terrorist acts," he said.
