The “rapid” implementation of several measures to improve salaries, housing, working organization and conditions as well as the representation of the policemen was decided upon at the end of an inter-ministerial meeting, chaired Sunday in Algiers by Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal.
In terms of salaries, the meeting which was devoted to the examination of issues related to the socio-professional situation of the policemen, it was decided to “emphasize on the implementation of an allowance for the policemen with effect from 1 November 2014,” said a communiqué of the Prime Minister’s services.
It was decided to raise the allowance of area with a retroactive effect to 1 January 2012 and to grant an allowance of collective movement for every policeman making movements.
A “particular attention” will be granted to housing, according to the communiqué, to meet the demands of the policemen under the existing plans and programmes.
Regarding working organisation and conditions, it was decided to improve the working system (3 times 8 hours) and to bring the policemen with social and health difficulties closer to their place of residence.
Concerning the representation of the policemen, it was decided to “ensure the representation of the policemen at the level of all the participatory commissions and bodies with the protection of the representatives in these commissions and bodies.”
