Israeli airstrikes on Gaza

Algeria "vigorously" condemned Wednesday the resumption of Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip and reaffirmed its "deep solidarity" with the Palestinian people in this new event.
"The resumption of Israeli bombing of Gaza, strongly condemned by Algeria, plunges Palestine again and all the sensitive region of the Middle East in a dangerous escalation," the Foreign ministry said in a statement.
"Algeria expresses its profound solidarity with the brotherly Palestinian people in this new event and calls on all international actors, in particular the Security Council of the United Nations to take appropriate measures for the immediate establishment of a cease-fire and the resumption of the peace process as soon as possible," he added.
"The weeks of martyrdom inflicted on the Palestinian people in Gaza by Israeli outbursts of aggressive violence have shocked the collective conscience of humanity," the ministry added.
"The overwhelming number of two thousand innocent victims, mostly children, women and elderly, was added to material destruction on a large scale to give a terrible consistency to the deaf will of the Israeli occupation to reduce any resistance to its plans of domination and hegemony," the same source added.
"The truce established upon the urging demand of the international community as a whole, particularly on the occasion of the emergency meeting of the General Assembly held at the initiative of the Algeria, authorized the hope of an initiation of a process of negotiations leading to a just and lasting solution to the crisis through the satisfaction of the inalienable national rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of their independent state with al-Quds as a capital city," the same source said.
