Cairo - MENA
Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmad el-Tayeb has met Morocco's ambassador in Cairo Mohamad Saad al-Alimi to discuss ties between Al-Azhar and the Arab country.
El-Tayeb praised the relations binding the two sides noting that Azhar places in high esteem the King, government and people of Morocco.
The ambassador highlighted the deep ties between the two sides, noting that such relations could not be spoiled.
He called for Fatwas (religious edicts) only by specialists.
Earlier, the deputy sheikh of Al Azhar, Abbas Shoman, had suspended the secretary of Fatwa committee at the Islamic Research Institute, Eid Yousef, from issuing any Fatwas.
Eid had criticized Morocco for celebrating Eidul Adha on Sunday despite Saudi Arabia's announcement that Eidul Adha fell on Saturday, a thing which irked Morocco.
