Five (05) Algerian smugglers were recently arrested and 18,600 psychoactive tablets were seized by the forces of the People’s National Army (ANP) in the far south of Algeria, said the National Defence Ministry in a communiqué.
“ As part of securing borders and fight against smuggling and organized crime, an ANP’s detachment coming under the operational sector of Tamanrasset (6th military region) arrested Tuesday in a reconnaissance patrol two Algerian smugglers and seized an all terrain vehicle and 2,450 litres of fuel,” said the communiqué.  
“The elements of the operational sector of Bordj Badji Mokhtar arrested on the same day, following an ambush near Tinzaouatine, two Algerian smugglers and seized two all terrain vehicles,” said the source.
“Furthermore, a detachment coming under the same operational sector arrested one Algerian smuggler and seized a lorry loaded with 800 litres of fuel.”
“Another detachment, in coordination with the elements of the Algerian Customs of Tamanrasset, seized Sunday a quantity of 18,600 psychoactive tablets, an all terrain vehicle and 5,862 cosmetic products,” added the source.
