Sanaa - TAP
Yemeni police opened fire on protesters marching toward the prime minister's office in the capital, Sanaa, on Tuesday killing at least four people and wounding 10, officials said.
Police first used tear gas to try to disperse the protesters, who have staged weeks of rallies demanding the govern resign and reinstate fuel subsidies.
Medical officials said four people died. Witnesses at the scene said at least 10 were wounded by gunshots while several others were injured in a stampede that erupted after the shooting.
In recent days, thousands of Houthi demonstrators have intensified weeks of protests on the outskirts of the city. The Houthis have been holding sit-ins at ministries and on the main airport road in their push to overthrow the government.
