Amman - KUNA
At least 23 militants from the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) were killed when their trucks were targeted by Kurdish forces in Ain Al-Arab, or Konabe, a Syrian town at the border with Turkey, a monitoring group said.
At least 16 militants from the ISIL were killed in Kobane, north of Syria, when Kurdish forces targeted their trucks, which were carrying weapons and ammunitions, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said in a statement on Saturday.
The SOHR added that other seven militants from the ISIL were also killed by Turks east of the Syrian town, which has been seeing violent clashes between Turks' forces and the ISIL militants.
The observatory said that the ISIL militants tried on Saturday to approach the center of Kobane, where violent clashes have been continuing between the two sides. Thus some militants had to retreat toward east of the town.
Two booby-trapped cars exploded in east and southeast of Kobane, Syrian opposition said in a statement.
Earlier in the day, Kurdish forces repelled attacks launched by the ISIL on some areas in Kobane. Those forces urged a US-led coalition to escalate air strikes on the ISIL who tightened their grip on the town the on Saturday.
