At least 21 people were killed as two buses collided some 400 km to the south of the capital city of Algiers on Tuesday.
A civil defense official said the two buses crashed head-on in Al-Farsha valley on 23rd national road in the Laghouat Province.
Rescuers and 20 ambulances rushed to the scene to find the victims dismembered due to the severe accident, the official said.
The source expected the death toll to rise further as several injured persons are in life-threatening condition, noting that the accident is the most serious this year in the country.
