At least one Palestinian citizen was wounded as a result of Israeli artillery bombardment this morning (Monday 8 October) east of Khan Yunus in south of Gaza Strip. The Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) quoted eyewitnesses who said that a Palestinian citizen was wounded as a result of an Israeli artillery barrage of a mosque in al-Qarrara township in north Khan Yunus meanwhile another group of Palestinian citizens escaped unscathed from Israeli artillery shelling which targeted them. Medical sources reportedly said that the Palestinian was inflicted with moderate wounds as a result of shrapnel. Some inhabitants of Khan Yunus said that Israeli-occupation artillery fired more than 10 rounds of shots resulting in violent blasts which caused widespread panicking and terrified Palestinian citizens, adding that the bombshells landed near Ammar bin Yasser mosque, meanwhile more bombshells targeted the minaret of al-Huda mosque and the water tank in addition to shelling of homes and farmlands belonging to Palestinian citizens which resulted in gross material damage to private Palestinian properties. Israeli army on the borderline opened machinegun fire targeting Palestinian citizens and their homes alongside the eastern part of Khan Yunus and al-Qarrara township. The new Israeli enemy attack coincided with intensified flight of Israeli reconnaissance warplanes over the skies of Gaza Strip which has caused fright amongst Palestinian citizens for fear of a possible escalation of attacks by Israeli occupation forces and possibility of launching a new attack against Gaza Strip. The Israeli army admitted that 19 rockets landed on al-Naqeb so far which had been fired from Gaza Strip, alleging that all rockets fell in open areas except one rocket which hit a house in Eshkol province and resulted in partial material damage only without reporting any physical injuries. Hebrew military sources allegedly said that the Israeli army does not intend to escalate the current fighting on the Gaza frontline and that military operations now being implemented against Gaza are only (topical and are aimed at activists who pose hazards or carry out hostile acts from Sinai and Gaza). Yesterday, Israeli warplanes targeted a motorbike near Rafah in south of Gaza Strip resulting in injuries to Palestinian citizens including children.
