Thousands in Yemen poured into streets in the capital of Sana’a to protest against American and Israeli policies toward the impoverished Middle-East country. The predominantly Houthi demonstrators, who staged the protest rally following the Friday prayers in the capital city, denounced the United States and Israeli regime for what they referred to as intervention in Yemen’s internal affairs. The protesters also expressed their opposition to the US-backed Yemeni government and accused the ruling regime of not fulfilling its duty of maintaining security in the country, Al-Alam reported. The demonstrators further insisted that the government is concealing the facts about a recent wave of violence against the Yemeni army. Scores of Yemeni soldiers have lost their lives in several attacks over the past two weeks. No group has claimed responsibility for the violence, but the Saudi-linked al-Qaeda elements and their affiliates are often the prime suspects in such attacks.
