Defence Minister Maj. Gen. Mohammed Nasser Ahmed and Chief of General Staff Maj. Gen. Ahmed al-Ashwal met on Tuesday with the U.S. ambassador to Yemen Gerald Feierstein on the occasion of ending his diplomatic tenure in Yemen. During the meeting, the defense minister praised the role of the U.S. ambassador during his term in the country and his contributions within the framework of the political settlement based on the Gulf initiative, confirming that the Yemeni- American relations will remain distinctive and strong through the cooperation and partnership in combating terrorism and exchanging information between the armies of the two friendly countries. For his part, al-Ashwal noted that the fingerprints of the ambassador Feierstein will remain exist in Yemen through the great role he played during the political crisis witnessed by Yemen. In turn, the U.S. ambassador confirmed that relations between Yemen and the United States of America will remain strong and well-established so as to ensure the continuation of support for the Yemeni armed forces and enhancing their capabilities to maintain the security and stability in the region. Feierstein said that the interesting of the United States in Yemen\'s issues will continue until Yemen overcomes all the challenges it faces.
