Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi met on Monday with the U.S. ambassador to Yemen, Gerald Feierstein, on the occasion of ending his diplomatic tenure in Yemen. At the meeting, al-Qirbi voiced his appreciation for the efforts made by the U.S. ambassador during his term in Sana’a, which contributed in developing and enhancing the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, wishing him success in his future duties. He affirmed the depth of Yemeni-American relations, which has recently seen through the U.S. support for the Yemeni people’s option, which represented in the political settlement and reviewed the successes that have been achieved in this regard. The minister al-Qirbi also underlined the importance of the American and international support for the transitional phase and Yemen’s desire to push forward the relations with the U.S. so as to contribute to transfer them to wider horizons of cooperation and partnership in all fields, especially the developmental and economic fields. For his part, the U.S. ambassador confirmed the strength of the relations between the two friendly countries, expressing his thanks and appreciation to the foreign minister and the Yemeni government for the facilities presented to him during his tenure. He confirmed that what has been achieved on the path of the political settlement in Yemen has given a good example for addressing disputes through the dialogue so as to maintain the international security and peace.
