Visit of EU, Italian, German envoys to Tripoli deferred

The planned Tripoli visit by Head of EU Delegation to Libya Ambassador Natalya Apostolova, German Ambassador to Libya Christian Much and Italian Ambassador to Libya Giorgio Starace, was delayed.

The visit was scheduled to start on Thursday, said the Presidential Council of the national unity government said, without giving any reason for the postponement.

On Monday, Fayez Mustafa al-Sarraj, the Chairman of the Presidential Council of Libya, received in Tripoli British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Philip Hammond accompanied by British Ambassador to Libya Peter Millett.

Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni was the first western official to visit Tripoli since the Presidential Council took the helm.
