US Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew pledged the United States' support for Iraq in reaching an agreement with the International Monetary Fund.

A statement by the Iraqi finance ministry on Tuesday said that the US minister voiced his country's readiness to contribute to the loan guarantees and to garner up support for Iraq during the coming meeting the finance ministers from a group of seven industrialized countries, set for May.

Iraqi Finance Minister Hoshyar Zebari and his accompanying delegation had talks with Lew and several experts at the US Department of the Treasury in Washington on boosting bilateral cooperation in the economic field, the statement added.
