U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Kurt Campbell will travel to Indonesia and the Philippines next week, the State Department announced Friday. Campbell will arrive in Jakarta next Tuesday, where he will meet with senior Indonesian officials on bilateral relations, regional events and key upcoming meetings, including the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit, the East Asia Summit and the U.S.-ASEAN Leaders Meeting hosted by Indonesia, the department said in a statement. He will then travel to Manila next Wednesday and hold talks with senior Philippine government officials, it added. This year\'s APEC summit will be held in Honolulu, Hawaii, on Nov. 12-13, and its U.S. host saw it as a opportunity \"to highlight the vast potential the Asia-Pacific region holds for American companies and workers.\" U.S. officials would also attend the Nov. 19 East Asia Summit in Bali, Indonesia.
