US Special Envoy for Libya Jonathan Winer praised the Egyptian efforts aimed at finding a solution for the Libyan crisis, especially its proposed initiatives at regional and international events.

Winer’s remarks came during his meeting with Egypt's Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab Affairs Tarek el Qouni on Wednesday in Cairo where they discussed the latest developments in Libya, terrorism-combat efforts and ways to enhance political dialogue in the war-torn country.

Qouni reiterated Egypt’s keenness on establishing peace and security in Libya, noting that Egypt hosted a number of meetings for Libyan rivals to help them achieve reconciliation.

He highlighted his country’s support to the legitimate institutions in Libya, represented in House of Representatives, the presidential council, and the Libyan army.

The Egyptian diplomat highlighted the importance of forming a new national accord government by the presidential council in Libya.

Both diplomats agreed to continue Egyptian-US coordination in the Libyan file.
