The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is set to vote on Monday on a resolution to reject Israeli sovereignty over occupied East Jerusalem, Israel Today said.

The Israeli paper noted that UNESCO's anticipated vote comes as part of a series of exceptional resolutions in light of its anti-Israel stance.

According to Israel's Ynet, the Israeli embassies in the 58 countries that make up the organization's executive board and the Israeli Foreign Ministry are working to convince as many countries as possible to vote against the resolution, but it is likely to pass regardless due to the automatic majority Arab nations have.

The administration of US President Donald Trump is also working to pressure UNESCO and the member nations to postpone the vote or alternatively oppose it, Ynet added.
