UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon met today with Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy in New York. They discussed developments in Egypt and regional issues of common interest. They also discussed the need for interim authorities to ensure protection of the fundamental human rights of all Egyptians. They exchanged views on the establishment of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the region of the Middle East and all other weapons of mass destruction and the need to finalize the modalities for the Helsinki Conference.
