UN envoy to Libya Martin Kobler said circumstances of the murder of 12 prisoners released by the Libyan authorities must be investigated promptly and with transparency.

Kobler briefly tweeted the remarks as he expressed shock and dismay over the murder of 12 Libyan prisoners released by a Tripoli court while they were on way to their homes.

The UN envoy said he will follow up investigations into the case with the Libyan authorities.
