Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon late Tuesday agreed with President Barack Obama on the importance of continued UN engagement on the issue of the Syrian chemical weapons as well as the importance of a political solution, the UN press office said in a statement after the meeting. The meeting added that both officials discussed relations between the United States and Iran, and the importance of progress on the nuclear file. They also discussed ongoing efforts in support of Somalia, Mali, Congo, Human Rights, and UN reform. President Obama addressed the General Assembly earlier in the day to state the US position on Syria, Iran, Palestine, and other issues.
