Turkish police launched an anti- drug operation across the country on Thursday, seizing 346 kg of heroin, local Today\'s Zaman reported. The police detained 11 suspects in the province of Hakkari and Istanbul, including three foreign nationals, who were trying to smuggle the drugs from Iran to Europe via Turkey. The operation took place after Turkish National Intelligence Organization discovered a network that brought drugs from the Iranian border to Istanbul. Turkey has long been a key transit point along the drug smuggling route from Asia and Middle East to Europe.
