Ankara - Anadolu
A court in Ankara began hearing on Monday a case into Turkey\'s \"post-modern\" February 28 military coup.
Some 103 defendants stand trial for overthrowing the government 16 years ago.
Several non-governmental organizations gathered outside the Ankara courthouse calling for a new constitution to prioritize individuals, rights and freedoms.
The post-modern coup forced former Prime Minister Necmettin Erbakan to resign after a meeting on February 28, 1997 by the National Security Council, which presented a coalition led by the outlawed Welfare Party with an ultimatum to protect secularism in the country.
