Tajik presidential elections began on Wednesday as voting stations opened this morning across the country. The president is elected for a seven-year term in the voting.

Preliminary results are expected on Thursday. Incumbent President Imomali Rakhmon, 61, is widely expected to win a fourth term at the helm of ex-Soviet states of Central Asia.
