Taiwan\'s agriculture suffered losses of 736.94 million Taiwan dollars (24.6 million dollars) from two tropical storms in August, officials said Wednesday, according to DPA. The figure comprised 552.91 million Taiwan dollars in lost production, 82.61 million from losses of livestock, aquaculture and forestry, and 101.43 million in damage to facilities, the Council of Agriculture said. The worst-hit counties were Chiayi and Yulin in Central Taiwan, with losses of 295.2 million and 248.5 million Taiwan dollars, respectively, according to the statement. The island was battered by Tropical Storms Trami on August 21 and Kong-Rey on August 28, which killed a total of six people and injured 11, according to the Interior Ministry.
