The success of the recent Haj is attributed to various factors, particularly the great support of the Kingdom’s leadership, according to experts.
“The Saudi leadership, led by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, spared no effort to ensure that this year’s pilgrimage would succeed,” they said. In fact, they said, “it was a tremendous success.”
They noted that King Salman, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman issued directives to make sure that all services would be rendered to the pilgrims.
They said there was also early preparation for the pilgrimage and direct supervision was closely followed by the Supreme Haj Committee and the Central Haj Committee.
“There were also strategic plans, and studies and research on the pilgrimage were also undertaken. There was calibrated teamwork, as it were, by various agencies,” they said.
More than 300,000 civilians and security men were deployed to ensure peace and order among the pilgrims, in addition to the introduction of modern technology in this year’s Haj operations.
“All the teams involved were alert and worked according to a clear approach since the arrival of the pilgrims, until departure for their respective countries,” they said.
A total of 296 patients performed Haj in various ambulances made available during the pilgrimage.
Raising morale among the different operators by leaders was not also neglected and a campaign was launched to get the message across that ”Haj service was an honor for all.”
Different ministries also did their share. The Ministry of Interior deployed 140,000 security personnel for preventive and precautionary measures, and to ensure public safety.
The Ministry of Health deployed 26,000 personnel. Electricity availability was also ensured; a water firm pumped more than 18 million cubic meters of water to Makkah; and 70,000 toilets were made available.
A total of 25 government agencies provided services during Haj.
