Air conditioning in government offices in one city in South Korea was ordered turned off Monday to avoid a possible power shortage, officials said. The government complex at Sejong shut off its cooling system following a request by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Yonhap news agency reported. A number of elevators in the complex also were shut down. The order also affected public buildings in the city The power shortage could have caused a nationwide blackout.
