President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Monday board member of Maersk Group and CEO of APM Terminals Kim Fejfer.
The meeting was attended by head of Suez Canal Authority Mohab Mamish as well as a number of Maersk officials.
The Maersk board member lauded the ongoing cooperation with the Egyptian authorities, especially with the Suez Canal Authority, Presidential Spokesman Alaa Yousef said.
Fejfer praised the Egyptian government’s efforts to develop the vital sectors of interest to Maersk, including the developing of the Suez Canal zone, the digging of tunnels under the canal and completing a side-canal in eastern Port Said in a record time of three months.
He briefed President Sisi on the latest developments of Maersk’s work in Egypt, stressing the group’s keenness to expand its investments in the Arab country in the coming period.
About 20 percent of ships transiting the Suez Canal belong to Maersk, he noted.
President Sisi, for his part, asserted that Egypt is looking forward to boosting cooperation with Maersk.
He reviewed the development plans carried out by the government and efforts to remove any obstacles facing investors.
