President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin discussed on phone Tuesday the latest regional developments and efforts to fight terrorism and support the truce in Syria.
Sisi greeted Putin on the 71st anniversary of Russia's Victory Day, which fell May 9, said presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef.
Sisi told Putin that both Russia and the US play important roles to render truce efforts in Syria successful, Youssef said.
The president stressed Egypt's support for the Russian-American concurrence and all international efforts aiming to peacefully solve the Syrian crisis in a way that maintains the unity of Syrian lands and achieves the will of the Syrian people, the spokesman added.
Sisi and Putin also discussed the latest developments in Libya, with the Egyptian president stressing the importance of supporting the Libyan government and national establishments, atop of which the army, Youssef further said.
The two leaders also talked about ways to boost bilateral relations at the political and economic levels, he said, adding they agreed to continue efforts to resume flights between the two countries in a bid to restore the flow of Russian tourists to Egypt.
