Khawla Al Mulla, President of Sharjah Consultative Council

Khawla Al Mulla, President of Sharjah Consultative Council, during a visit to the 1020 Exhibition, praised the advanced level of awareness among the Emirati youth to establish their own small and medium business, which contribute highly in developing the economic and social sector of the nation.

She said that such innovative projects indicate that Emirati youth are thinking more about launching their own private business besides the scope of usual and traditional work. Thus, they have shifted into a contributed category of the society. "Small and medium entrepreneurs have a significant role in raising the living standards and improving the income of individuals," she added.

Moreover, Ameera bin Karam, Deputy Chairperson of Nama and Chairperson of the Sharjah Business Women Council (SBWC), declared, during her visit to the 1020 Exhibition, that female entrepreneurs had proven years back that they were well qualified to manage successful business projects.

"Our visit to the 1020 Exhibition has been to encourage female entrepreneurs as it is our role in the SBWC to offer them with the unlimited support that they need until they reach their goals, and to empower them at the domestic and international levels," Bin Karam added.

The exhibition, which includes more than 34 designers of local brands, has been supported by the SBWC and Sharjah Entrepreneurship Centre (Sheraa), in order to empower entrepreneurs by offering them a fully equipped platform with suitable financial packages to promote their products and items.

Mariam Al Shamsi, Executive Director of the exhibition, said the second edition of the exhibition will be in September. "This exhibition will continue for the whole year, while the participants will be replaced since contracts are renewable every three months. So, a larger number of entrepreneurs will be able to participate and benefit from the centre," she said.
