The Ambassador of Pakistan to Syria Waheed Ahmad on Thursday said that there are about 270 Pakistanis in Syria and the mission in Damascus is in constant contact with them. According to an official press release, the ambassador said that the mission would help evacuate those families who are willing to go back to Pakistan in case of US attack on Syria. He further informed that the situation is normal in Damascus at present and the staff of Pakistani embassy is performing its duties as per routine. The United States Senate Foreign Relations Committee has approved a resolution authorizing U.S. military action in Syria over alleged use of chemical weapons and to enforce its prohibition. Over millions of Syrians have relocated their homes or become refugees in the neighbouring countries, mainly Iraq, Jordan, Turkey and Lebanon. The Pakistani Ambassador to Syria said that protection and security of Pakistanis is his first and foremost duty, the press release added.
