President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi met on Wednesday with assistant UN secretary-general and UN envoy to Yemen Jamal Benomar. Benomar is currently visiting Yemen to follow up the process of Yemen’s political settlement based on the GCC-brokered initiative and Security Council resolutions No. 2014 and 2051 as well as discussing ways to overcome the remaining difficulties encountering in the final outputs of the national dialogue conference (NDC). During the meeting, President Hadi briefed Benomar on the steps and procedures that enabled working groups and the presidium of the NDC to prepare its final outputs. The President emphasized the need of a national action by all working groups and political forces involved in the NDC, especially the conference is about to conclude. For his part, the UN envoy to Yemen confirmed the UN and the international community stand by Yemen to overcome its current challenges. Benomar also pointed out that the Friends of Yemen’s meeting, which was recently held in New York, and the recent meeting of the Security Council on Yemen had confirmed that their support to Yemen will continue at this stage and the next stage.
