The military wing of the Popular Resistance Committees in the Gaza Strip said it fired two mortars into southern Israel on Sunday morning. The Nasser Saladin Brigades said in a statement they launched the projectiles "in response to the crimes of the occupation." The shells fell in southern Israel early Sunday, without causing injuries or damage. Israeli bombardments on the beseiged coastal strip have killed two in the past week, as Gaza marked the third anniversary of the devastating war launched over Christmas 2008, and Israeli military officials vowed they were "ready" for another assault.
