Los Angeles - UPI
Little is known about the driver accused of killing one person and injuring 16 others on the Venice boardwalk, Los Angeles police said. Public records indicate Nathan Louis Campbell, 38, lived in Georgia, Florida and most recently Colorado and had a history of arrests for petty crimes, the Los Angeles Times reported. The 2008 Dodge Avenger Campbell was driving when he ran over an Italian woman and injured 16 pedestrians had been purchased from a dealership in Littleton, Colo., recently, police said. He is being held on $1 million bond in the death of Alice Gruppioni, 32, who was on her honeymoon when she was killed. Investigators were examining Campbell\'s background to determine a motive for the Saturday attack. Nearly two decades ago Campbell lived in Hollywood at Covenant House, which provides services and housing for homeless youths. He came to Los Angeles recently and police said it is unclear how he spent the intervening years. The Los Angeles County district attorney\'s office was expected to file charges against Campbell Tuesday.
