Chairman of the Jordanian Ports Institution Eng. Mohamed Al-Mubayadeen has announced that the Pella Ship belonging to the Arab Jisr (Bridge) Maritime Company (AJMC) has sunk early Monday morning at a depth of 800 Meter in the international waters. In remarks to the Jordanian TV ,Mohamed Al-Mubayadeen said the ship sank because of the great blaze which targeted it three days back noting that the sinking of the ship would not hinder the maritime traffic navigation. The chief of the AJMC said that representatives of all concerned parties proceeded to the sinking site to make the necessary required check-ups and measures to evaluate the volume of losses and the other financial and legal consequences. Earlier Thursday ,fire started in the ship (Pella) of the Arab Bridge Maritime Company which was sailing from the Egyptian port of Nuwaibe on the Red Sea towards Aqaba port in Jordan carrying 1230 passengers in addition to their cars. Director General of the company Hussein So''ub said in a telephone call with the Jordanian News Agency (Petra) that the fire broke out in a space for luggage storage on the ship and no injuries were reported. He added that the passengers are now being evacuated to another ship (Ella) from the same company and that all of them have been rescued .
