The recently released detainee hatem yusuf amr, aged 51, has been admitted into a hospital in khalil city for health conditions. Amr is suffering from a very difficult health condition when he was released by the israeli occupation authorites in response to an israeli military court in Ofer, south of Haifa, which ordered his release after two months in prison. The israeli physicians revealed later that the palestinian prisoner is in dire need to an open heart operation. In a related development, a large demonstration has been held in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah. The protesters demanded that the Israeli authorities give appropriate treatment to sick Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails and called for the release of all Palestinian prisoners who are in critical health conditions. Another activist Mustafa Bargouthi, who’s also a politician, said that 5000 Palestinian prisoners are currently held in Israeli jails, with hundreds of them suffering from diseases. He added that there are particularly concerns about 30 prisoners who are in critical condition. A report by the Palestinian Prisoners Society said that there are around 20 prisoners who are permanently confined in Ramla Prison Clinic in Israel, who often denied medical treatment. The report also said that many of the sick Palestinian prisoners have been detained while being injured by Israeli military, and have not received appropriate medical aid to recover. The sick Palestinian prisoners mostly suffer from cancer, heart diseases, and amputees.
