The Palestinian Supreme Fatwa Council deplored on Thursday the election promise given by US Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump that he would recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel if elected president.

Trump's vow is "dangerous" and it shows that he does not respect the international law which regards Palestine, including Al Quds (East Jerusalem), as an occupied land, said the council's head Mohamed Hussein according to the Arabic-speaking website of WAFA news agency.

Trump's statements, Hussein noted, reflect that he has abandoned relevant UN resolutions and that he ignores the Palestinian cause.
