Islamabad - QNA
Pakistani leaders on Monday discussed a fresh strategy to deal with Islamic militancy ahead of the planned drawdown of international forces from Afghanistan, officials said.
Heads of political parties, intelligence agencies and the armed forces met in the capital Islamabad to consider the prospects for opening peace talks with the homegrown Islamist militants.
Such a move could draw anger from the United States and other Western nations fighting al-Qaeda and Taliban rebels in neighboring
Afghanistan, reported DPA.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was chairing the meeting, where he sought support from opposition parties for his plans to deal with rebel groups.
