Pakistan strongly condemned the unprovoked firing by Indian soldiers along the \"Line of Control\" near Rawalkot which resulted in the killing of a Pakistani soldier and serious injuries to another, said an official press release on Sunday. The Foreign Office Spokesman in a statement expressed that it is unfortunate that such an incident should have taken place, at a time when the two governments are making sincere efforts towards improving relations and disolving all disputes. \"Pakistan calls upon the Government of India to carry out a thorough investigation into this grave incident and to ensure that such occurrences do not take place,\" said foreign office. Earlier, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a Pakistan army soldier was killed and another was seriously injured in \"unprovoked\" firing by Indian troops from across the Line of Control (LoC) in the disputed region of Kashmir. Kashmir has been occupied by India and Pakistan along with the UN monitored \"Line of Control\", both countries fought two wars over the disputed region. Both countries had agreed to a cease fire in 2003, however Pakistan accused the Indian army of violation of the ceasefire along with LoC a number of times. Tensions rose among the traditional rival countries earlier this year when a total of six soldiers were killed (four Pakistanis and two Indians) in exchanges along the de facto border in Kashmir.
