Opposition leader Michael Sata was declared the winner of Zambia's election early Friday, after a tight race against President Rupiah Banda that was marred by outbursts of violence. "I therefore declare Michael Chilufya Sata to be duly elected as President of the Republic of Zambia," said Chief Justice Ernest Sakala.
