Candidacy registration for upcoming municipal elections proceeded for the third consecutive day on Friday however nominees\' turn-up was drastically low as compared to the past two days\' turn-out.
Only two citizens delivered their nomination papers at the general election affairs commission of the Ministry of Interior today. Khaled Al-Sager recorded candidacy for the fourth constituency and Dekheel Al-Hajeri for the 10th district.
On Thursday, the commission received nomination papers of 10 nationals. On Wednesday, the first day of nomination registration for the municipal polling, that number reached 27.
Nominees\' registration is due to proceed till September 6.
Kuwait had witnessed municipal elections 10 times since the State independence in 1961. The first polling was held in June 1964.
The municipal council plays a key role in the country\'s construction, development and beautification of public places and streets.
