A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the mutual recognition of seafarers’ certificates issued for navy personnel on board ships with the maritime administration of the Republic of the Marshall Islands was signed at the Ministry of Transport and Communications today.
The MoU was signed from the Ministry of Transport and Communications by Rashid bin Mohammed al-Kiyoumi, Director General of Maritime Affairs and Amarjit Kauchhur, Deputy Commissioner of Maritime Affairs on behalf the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
Signing the MoU comes in implementation of the provisions of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, as well as the Law for Regulation of Navigation in the Omani Territorial Waters.
The MoU contains many articles on requirements for certificates of eligibility of both parties in the MoU, in addition to visit procedures between the two parties, verify the validity of certificates of eligibility and the models adopted by both parties.
