Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused the Israeli human rights group "B'Tselem" on Saturday of joining an informal UN Security Council session titled "Illegal Israeli Settlements: Obstacles to Peace and the Two-State Solution," which was held on Friday in New York and was requested by Malaysia and Angola.

    In an interview with Israel Radio on Sunday, B'Tselem executive director Hagai El-Ad called for the United Nations to take immediate action to put an end to the Israeli violations against Palestinians.

    Asked why the group needs to turn to international forums to present its message, El-Ad told Israel Radio "The occupation isn't an internal Israeli issue, but a major international issue. There's no such thing as a democratic occupation. This can't be an internal matter." He said "You cannot occupy a people for fifty years and call yourself a democracy. You cannot violate the rights of millions and claim international perks justified by hollow words about commitment to shared human rights values."
