Rome - KUNA
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Tuesday economic sanctions on Iran should not be lifted because they were the only \"peaceful\" way to stop the Islamic Republic from possessing nuclear weapons. Netanyahu, in press remarks following his meeting with his Italian counterpart Enrico Letta, warned against Iran\'s manufacturing of nuclear weapons, noting that Tehran increased centrifuges by over 100 folds to 20,000. The Israeli Prime Minister, scheduled to meet US secretary of state John Kerry tomorrow, said many countries in Europe and Asia were using peaceful nuclear energy without the need of enriching equipment. Allowing Iran to manufacture centrifuges and produce plutonium, he added, would mean allowing it to have the capability to build a nuclear bomb. Netanyahu said international economic sactions were the only \"peaceful\" mean to stop Iran from building nuclear arms. Letta, for his part, Italy and Israel were committed to stability of the Middle East and the Meditarranean. He said they shared the view that the Syrian conflict should be addressed peacefully and through the Geneva II meeting
