Military Spokesman Mohamed Samir announced the foiling of an illegal immigration attempt by 808 persons of various nationalities via the Mediterranean Sea.
The military spokesman said that the 808 persons, included 70 Egyptians and the rest are from Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia, Ethiopia, Syria and the Comoro Islands.
He added border guards in El Salloum area seized two 4X4 cars without number plates and loaded with 51800 kilograms of Hashish in six sacks, an ancient stone statue and a shotgun.
The border guards and military engineers also managed to destroy four underground tunnels on the borderline in north Sinai.
In the same context, security bodies and relevant sectors allowed 1,342 vehicles loaded with goods to cross into the Gaza Strip via Karem Abu Salem commercial crossing.
