German Chancellor Angela Merkel meets today here with the British Prime Minister David Cameron for talks on means of strengthening the future of the European Union. Cameron earlier has urged the Eurozone's leaders, who seek to save their currency to "act now" together with the institutions of the eurozone. Britain is a member of the European Union but doesn't use the euro. Tensions between Germany and Britain over how to handle the crisis in the eurozone deepened after allies of the German chancellor claimed she would not allow the UK to "get away" with its refusal to back a European financial transactions tax. Speaking before today's meeting, the parliamentary leader of her Christian Democratic Union said: "Britain had a responsibility to make Europe a success." Britain is a member of the European Union but doesn't use the euro.
