Russia and South Korea are committed to the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday.
Moscow and Seoul will not accept Pyongyang's self-proclaimed nuclear status, he said after talks with his South Korean counterpart Yun Byung-se.
"We reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to the goal of denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and in this regard stressed that both Russia and the Republic of Korea will not accept North Korea's self-proclaimed nuclear status. We stressed the importance of UN Security Council Resolution 2270 in the interests of influence on Pyongyang, and will pursue its full implementation," Lavrov said.
He added that Russia and South Korea also discussed the prospective of high-level bilateral contacts.
