The State of Kuwait, late on Wednesday, donated USD 50,000 to the Mexican Red Cross on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Mexico City Mayor Dr. Miguel Angel Mancera asked the ambassador of the State of Kuwait to the United Mexican States, Samih Johar Hayat, who personally handed over the donation during a meeting at the governing palace, to convey deep appreciation to HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for this donation, praising the solid and distinctive ties bounding the two countries. The Mexican Federal District government organized on Wednesday a broad celebration at the palace for receiving collective donations for the local Red Cross -- with ambassador Hayat attending as a guest of honor. Ambassador Hayat said he was pleased to take part in the gathering to mark the anniversary of Mexican Red Cross that was founded in 104. Since then, the association has been seeking to improve citizens\' health, alleviate plight of the needy, the weak, the women, the elderly and the children during and after natural catastrophes, he stated, expressing hope to establish cooperation between the association and Kuwait red Crescent Society. Hayat received a certificate of appreciation from the Mexican Red Cross Chairman.
