Tokyo - Arab Today
Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida vowed Monday to move Japan-China ties forward through his trip to China from Friday, during which the South China Sea is expected to be on the agenda, Kyodo reported.
"Through a candid dialogue with the Chinese side I hope to get the gears moving to establish a Japan-China relationship that is appropriate for the new era," Kishida said in a speech in Tokyo. "I hope the Chinese side will cooperate in a positive manner."
Kishida plans to meet with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi during his trip to Beijing, at a time when the two countries have differing views over China's massive reclamation work in the South China Sea.
