Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Saturday that his country backed the diplomatic interchange between it and the US which took place during the visit of President Hassan Rohani to New York to attend the UN general assembly meetings. The ayatollah made this remark while addressing a ceremony held for the graduates from military schools. In his custormary criticism of the United States, the ayatollah said that \"Part of what happened during the New York visit was not appropriate from our point of view.\" \"However, we are optimistic of the work done by our diplomatic corps and by our government; but we are pessimistic towards the Americans. The US government cannot be trusted; it is hegemonic and unfaithful to its promises,\" Khamenei added. Keeping the negative tone, he further described the American administration as a government dominated by international Zionist lobbies and as such has to compromise with the Israeli regime and satisfy its leanings.
