The Japanese government will provide USD 3 million in emergency grant aid for Syrian refugees and internally displaced persons, the Foreign Ministry said Friday. \"Cooperating with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the UN Commission on Human Rights (UNCHR), Japan is planning for the swift distribution of food and sanitary items,\" the ministry said in a statement, citing the political instability and the worsening of the human rights situation in Syria since last March. Tokyo will announce the decision at the International Conference of the Friends of the Syrian people to be held in Tunisia on Friday, it added.
